Marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

"Today, 136 countries recognize the State of Palestine and its flag flies at the United Nations next to those of all Member States. However, these advances are not felt by children in Gaza, or by the residents of Nablus, Hebron and East Jerusalem .[..] let us reaffirm our commitment to bring about the just peace that the peoples of Israel and Palestine deserve."

The Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine needs you support

Friends,

As you probably know, the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine is an all-volunteer organization of groups and individuals actively opposing Israel’s use of water as a weapon against Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank and Gaza.

The Alliance was organized in 2013 to oppose then-Governor Patrick’s Water Technology Partnership with Israel. Since then, we have organized against Israel’s discriminatory policies that inflict the water deprivation that Palestinians suffer.

We know that the issue of water injustice engages new supporters in the struggle for Palestinian rights as well as providing needed information to people who have been doing this work for a while. We’ve been paying for our outreach and educational material ourselves. Now we are turning to the larger community to help us amplify our message.

Here are some of the ways that even a small donation can make a difference:

$12 will pay to laminate one poster

$30 will supply us with 300 leaflets

$50 will fill a demo-to-go backpack

If you can make a larger donation:

$175 will give us a new banner with our website & logo

$200 will pay for our website in 2017

Help us highlight the issue of water injustice and corporate complicity wherever we can - on the streets of U.S. towns and cities, in the offices of our elected representatives, in the media and, with our allies across the U.S. and internationally, whenever Israel presents a distorted image of its “democracy.”

Please consider donating now, before the end of the year, to support our work. Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible. You can easily give through our website

 Thank you!

Palestinians charge Mekorot with supplying water twice a week for an hour to some villages

Palestinians are allotted 70 litres per person per day—well below the World Health Organization’s recommendation of 100 litres per person per day. Israeli settlers receive around 300 litres per person per day.

A report from the UN Environment Programme said that Israel was using the majority of the water resources available in the West Bank for itself.

Incredible Story about impact of a 12 Minute Video

This short film stimulates—and enriches—organizing around water justice in Palestine.

In early 2011, Mohammad Al-Azza, director of the Lajee Center Media Unit, was asked to make a video about Aida that would represent his community to the world, potentially in film festivals. Aida Refugee Camp, established in 1951, is home to about 6,000 Palestinian refugees on the outskirts of Bethlehem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. It is surrounded on two sides by the separation wall, and an Israeli military base looms over it. Unemployment levels are high. Yet, for this particular video, Al-Azza decided to focus on something less obvious: the water crisis that hits Aida every summer.

How community-based media sparked international activism for Palestinian water rights
