Seth Rogan speaks out...

via TRND ·

Seth Rogen reignited a years-old controversy after comments he made on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast in 2020 resurfaced, drawing fresh attention online.

Rogen, who is Canadian-American and was raised attending Jewish schools and Jewish summer camp in Vancouver, made the remarks while promoting his film An American Pickle. His parents reportedly met on a kibbutz in Israel.

“[As] a Jewish person I was fed a huge amount of lies about Israel my entire life,” Rogen told Maron, who is also Jewish.

He went on to criticize what he described as an incomplete telling of Israel’s founding.

“They never tell you that, ‘Oh, by the way, there were people there,’” Rogen said. “They make it seem like it was just like sitting there, like the f***ing door’s open.”

The conversation covered broader territory as well. Rogen said he did not believe a Jewish state made sense as a means of preservation, arguing that concentrating a population in one volatile location carried its own risks. He also said he would not choose to live in Israel himself, a position Maron said he shared.

Elsewhere in the discussion, Rogen said his father had told him plainly as a child that “people hate Jews,” adding that he was grateful the warning had been instilled in him early.

The remarks drew backlash at the time from commentators who accused Rogen of minimizing Israel’s founding, while others defended his comments as a legitimate reflection on how Jewish history is taught. Rogen had previously signed a public statement supporting Israel during its 2014 offensive in Gaza.

Dear  -----

When I talk about what we, a city with a history of standing up against injustice, can do to stop Israel’s mass murder of Palestinians, I begin with numbers, numbers that represent people: you, me, our families, our friends far and wide, a person, a life, a breath. I offer you just a few numbers and ways to look at them as equations as I voice my support for the Divest from Israel resolution. We must not continue to be accomplices to and abettors of killing, and displacing, innocent people.

 Since October 7, 2023

—Israel has killed nearly 22,000 Palestinian children in Gaza.

This number equals ALL the CHILDREN under age 18 in CAMBRIDGE and SOMERVILLE. Imagine walking all the streets of these two cities and no kids in sight.

—Israel is murdering an average of one child every 71 minutes. That is 3 dead children during each Monday night 4-hour City Council meeting.

—Israel has made 71,846 children in Gaza orphans.

This number equals NEARLY ALL THE CHILDREN in CAMBRIDGE, SOMERVILLE, WORCESTER, and CHELSEA.

--Israel has deliberately displaced nearly 1.9 million people in Gaza (90% of the population), many displaced more than once, through bombing and other assaults.

This number equals EVERY (every!) RESIDENT of Manhattan, Somerville, and Providence, RI.

Thank you,

Engineered Starvation Returns.. Gaza Without Vegetables or Fruits and Dollar Prices Burning the Poor

Gaza – Exclusive

Engineered famine has returned to the Gaza Strip, suddenly and without warning. For more than a week, no flour, sugar, fruits or vegetables have entered the Strip.

The occupation closed Kerem Shalom crossing, the only commercial crossing, and prevented trucks loaded with basic materials from entering, in a new attempt to bring back the specter of starvation to Gaza, which is still suffering from the consequences of the genocidal war that has continued for more than 3 years.

Markets almost empty and prices on fire

A tour in Gaza City markets today reveals the catastrophe (1 USD = 3.06 shekels):

A 25 kg bag of flour rose from $8.1 (25 shekels) to $26.1 (80 shekels), a kilo of onions jumped from $2.2 to $5.8 (18 shekels), tomatoes from $3.5 to $6.5 (20 shekels), and chicken breast from $11.4 to $15.6 (48 shekels), while fruits have completely disappeared and what remains is sold for $9.8 per kilo (30 shekels).

A family of 5 that used to secure its daily meal for $10 now needs more than $25 today.

Not just a crossing crisis.. The occupation dictates what is sold

Commercial sources confirmed that the Zionist side is not only preventing entry, but is directly pressuring traders and dictating to them what should and should not be sold. Despite announcing the resumption of coordination through Kerem Shalom, entry was deliberately limited to items outside the basic food basket, excluding vegetables, fruits and meats.

Under this pressure, some traders hid goods in warehouses and raised their prices insanely, making illicit profits at the expense of the hungry.

The catastrophe is compounded by the World Food Programme's announcement two days ago that it is stopping aid for half a million people in Gaza due to a funding shortfall of $450 million, threatening a catastrophic famine for 1.4 million citizens, while the Ministry of Health confirms that 157 children have died from malnutrition since 2024.

Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair continues to write the names of Palestinian children killed in Gaza on his game-day eye black, standing by his message despite repeated warnings and fines from the NFL.
