He is a hero.

The NFL has repeatedly fined Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for writing phrases and names on his eyeblack before games — around $11,000 each time — but Al-Shaair has continued advocating for children killed and wounded in Gaza. He’s written the name of a different Palestinian child in all six weeks of the season so far.

In comments earlier this season, he said, “Is a life worth $11,000? I think it’s priceless.”

This past Sunday, Al-Shaair wrote the name of Fatima Al-Bayook, an 8-year-old who was reportedly shot by Israeli forces and later died from her wounds. She had been the sole survivor in her family after an Israeli airstrike killed all her family members in 2023.
